It’s tempting to just get on your bike and go, but you could easily be setting yourself up for a fall if you neglect the following fundamentals. Here is The Cycling Bug’s list of the 5 things you must do before your next ride
1. Check the weather
How you’re dressed dramatically affects your comfort on the bike – wind chill factor can kick in even on a sunny afternoon. In order to dress appropriately, you need to have a basic idea of what the weather will be doing. There is huge satisfaction to be had in having a pair of gloves or some sunscreen handy should they become necessary during your ride.
Rain radar loops are especially helpful to keep an eye on (and take shelter during) intermittent showers.
2. Charge your phone
There is nothing more annoying than your ride tracker cutting out halfway through your route. Having full battery will also give you the ability to call someone to come bail you out of a sticky situation or rejoin a group if you get separated.
