Even though summer is over, it’s never a bad time to work on getting stronger. In fact Fall is the perfect time to start something new and get ready for all of the holiday parties and then New Year Resolutions to follow. Below are a few upper body exercises that will not only increase your strength, but also give you nice muscle definition. You’ll notice they aren’t your typical bicep curls or tricep extensions. Why? Because we want to focus on exercises that use multiple muscle groups. Not only does this burn more calories, but it will make you way stronger!

Pull-ups are the king of upper body exercises. You’re using your own body weight as resistance to literally pull yourself up. Talk about a killer exercise! Pull-ups mainly target your lats, which are the muscles that run along the sides of your back and up to your shoulder. They also work your shoulders and biceps. It’s okay if you can’t do a pull-up on your own. In order to work up to it use an assisted pull-up machine or a band. Each week try to use less and less resistance.
